Updating is a manual replace: download the new build and drop it into your plugin folder over the old one. Your DAW picks it up on the next scan. Updating won’t touch your saved projects: the plugin’s state is versioned and migrates.

macOS VST3: /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3
macOS AU: /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components
Windows VST3: C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3

A keyfile from any version works with every version. Lost yours? your stuff will re-send it.

The plugin can check for updates from its About panel. The check runs only when you click it, and the request carries nothing: no licence, no identifier, just a fetch of the public version number.
